Day 22 Law of Attraction Centering Thought

Today, no matter where I’m going, no matter what I am doing, and no matter who I’m doing it with it is my dominant intent to look for what I want to see.

I’m wanting to find thoughts and words and actions that feel good while I’m finding them.  For in doing so, I am, in the moment, practicing the art of allowing all that I’ve been telling the Universe I’m wanting, for all of the days of my existence.

Do you have patience to wait until your mud settles and the water is clear?  Can you remain unmoving until  the right action arises by itself?

The Season Of Light

Since ancient times light has been the focus of this time of year here in the northern hemisphere. Imagine our ancestors knowing that they were dependent on the light of the sun for life and it was appearing less each day. They lit fires and danced to call back the sun, and brought evergreen bows inside as a symbol of on going life (light) in a dark dormant time. Then after the winter solstice and the light of the sun began to return, they built fires to celebrate. Romans acknowledged the rebirth of the sun in their Saturnalia festivals. Today many religious and cultural traditions honor the light at this time of the year – Hanukah the festival of lights, Christmas the birth of Jesus, the light of the world, Kwanza, the light of daily principles to live by, and solstice, the honoring the physical and spiritual light.

Whatever your traditions of the season, know they tie not only to your family and friends, but also to our ancient roots and to many around the planet. Choose the love you are. Let your light shine.

The Collier-Cram Tradition

With our sons we would gather with other families sometime in December to celebrate the Season of Light. Before a festive meal we would enter a darkened room with one candle burning that symbolized that the light is always present in the darkness. We’d then light a candle to mark each burst of consciousness (seeing the light) through time starting with our ancestor’s recognition of the vital need for the physical light of the sun. Then we’d tell of the beginning of the realization found in traditions like the Vedic and the Jewish profits, that there is oneness in all that is. Confucius, Lao Tzu, Buddha, and Jesus all taught that the oneness includes us; that the kingdom of heaven is within. The candle for the present day acknowledged that we humans can become conscious that we are the light with the challenge to let it shine – to live in clear alignment with the fullness of who we are. Each person would light a candle and give their wish or blessing for the world. To really make the point, we’d light every candle and electric light inside and out.

In our family we would give a gift of light besides the material gifts. On December 24 or 25 we would do blessings for each other. It might be a written or verbal message about what you appreciated and acknowledged as strengths about each of the other members of the family. We had special candles for each person that we lighted when the blessings were spoken. Even with boys, there was not a dry eye in the house.

Winter Solstice Celebration

In her book, Real Life Rituals, Minister Karyl Huntley, gives step-by-step suggestions for a solstice celebration. We include her words.

We are here to consider the mystery of transformation, of death and rebirth, of light emerging from the darkness, of the new emerging from the ashes of the old. We are here to honor this mystery in our world and in ourselves, for as it is in the great whole, so it is in the individual.

As we come to the end of the great darkness for this cycle of our world as it spins around the sun – our source of light – we leave anything we would like to release or let go of in the darkness.

Lighting candles symbolizes that which is now taking place, physically and spiritually, in hearts and minds the world over. We celebrate it here together. Witness the light from within the darkness. This light burns in you and through you. There is a place for you to shine your light this coming year. In this moment let that place come to you.

See how brightly the sacred light shines. The light has once again been born from the darkness. The old has left us, and the new is shining from within us. Just one candle flame could light a candle held by every person on this planet, may the light in this room go forth to bless the whole world.
