October Daily Vibes | Agreements Day 5

Day 5 Law of Attraction Centering Thought

I focus on the feelings of what I desire.

Of course, you are enjoying your personal desires and preferences, because that’s what you signed on for. You said, “I will focus into a physical body! I will explore! I will be inspired to improvement—constant, never-ending, personal improvement and expansion! And once I have identified a desire, I will focus purely in a non-resisted way, upon it. I will not let old beliefs deny my new desire.”  ~  Abraham

The impeccability of the word can be measured by the level of your self-love. If you love yourself you will express that love in your interactions with others, and that action will produce a like action.  ~ Don Miguel Ruiz

A Sign
In a conversation with my friend, Judy, she shared that her daughter had emailed her about a great book she just found – The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. She appreciated that this daughter who usually is not interested in a spiritual path liked this book that we had read and found inspirational almost twenty years ago on our journeys.

Next, my teaching partner, Barb told of a conversation that week where the same book was mentioned. When my Guide for Spiritual Living magazine arrived with Don Miguel Ruiz as the featured teacher and his picture on the cover, I headed the sign to revisit the book. Reading it I realized that his four agreements took on more validity as impactful spiritual tools when coupled with the teachings on the Law of Attraction by Abraham and other spiritual teachers. So a focus on agreements became the theme for these Daily Vibes.

Beliefs as Agreements
Abraham teaches that beliefs are thoughts that we keep thinking. We establish a neurological super highway of the thought pattern and the Law of Attraction keeps it repeating so that we then think of it as a belief to live by. In his book, The Four Agreements, Don Miguel Ruiz equates agreements with beliefs. As we grow up we are told many so called facts about who we are and what life is about that we agree to accept as our own belief system.

Everything we do in life is based on the agreements we have made, agreements with ourselves, with other people, with society and with Source. But the most important agreements are the ones we make with ourselves. In these agreements we tell ourselves who we are, how to behave, what is possible, what is impossible. We claim that this is what I am. I can do certain things and some things I cannot do.
If we want to live a life of joy we have to find a way to break the agreements that limit us, and choose new agreements based on love.

The test for limiting agreements/beliefs is how we feel about the thought of that agreement. If what we believe feels good, it is in sync with our Source Energy. It is an agreement that clearly aligns with the fullness of who we are. We resonate with the power that creates universes. We have made up the agreements ourselves, so we can make up new ones. Agreeing with the Four Agreements leads to that life of joy.

As a Toltec master, Don Miguel bases his Four Agreements on the ancient Toltec wisdom. Thousands of years ago, the Toltec were known as “women and men of knowledge.” They came together as masters and students at Teotihuacan, the ancient city of pyramids outside Mexico City known as the place where “One Becomes God.” Toltec knowledge arises from the same essential unity of truth as all the sacred esoteric traditions found around the world. It incorporates spirit as a way of life with happiness and love readily available.

The four agreements are:
Be impeccable with your word.
Don’t take anything personally.
Don’t make assumptions.
Always do your best

First Agreement – Be impeccable with your word.

Don Miguel uses the word impeccable because of its meaning “without sin.” He defines sin as anything you do, which goes against yourself. In the Attraction Based Consciousness teachings going against yourself means that the thought vibrations of the voice in your head do not line up with the vibrations of your Inner Being and Source. You feel unpleasant emotions. Being impeccable with your word then means choosing to speak only words that resonate with Source, words that feel good when you speak them.

Impeccable Power

As Louise Hay says, “The thoughts we think and the words we speak create our experiences.” Don Miguel writes of the word as the power that you have to create. Through the word you manifest your intent. The word is a force. It determines the vibration you broadcast thus the vibration that you attract. Critical then, if you want to be the love you are and manifest what you want, is that your word expresses what you want rather than what you do not want.

Process
For this week commit to being impeccable with your word. Intend to speak only what feels good to say. That means say what you appreciate, talk of the solution rather than restating the problem and praise rather than criticize. If it didn’t feel good when it happened, don’t retell the story. Tell stories based on emotional bias, not historical accuracy.

The idea is simple, but it is quite the training, so be easy on yourself. Being impeccable with your word is an ongoing practice.
