I am mastering the art of being the fullness of who I am.
Being the fullness of who you are happens moment to moment. ~ Abraham
By doing your best over and over, you are master the art of transformation. By doing your best the habits of misusing your word, taking things personally, and making assumptions will become weaker and less frequent with time. ~ Don Miguel Ruiz
Agreement Four – Always Do Your Best
In the Attraction Based Consciousness construct doing your best means taking action when you are in clear alignment. The process is always to do what it takes to feel good, to get into clear alignment. Then you will be inspired to the action to take and that action will be enjoyable to do, efficient and it will get the job done. You will be lined up with the forces that create universes. In his book, “Why Your Life Sucks and What You Can Do About It,” Allen H. Cohn suggests only taking action when it feels like a “hell yes!”
Don Miguel teaches that this agreement is the one that allows the other three to become deeply ingrained habits. This fourth agreement is about the action of the first three. He cautions against overdoing, which is going against yourself, and takes longer to accomplish your goal. Overdoing is an indication you are doing the action when you are misaligned and using motivation instead of inspiration. You are not in your full power.
For The Love Of It
Doing your best is taking the action because you love it, not because you’re expecting the reward. If you take action just for the sake of doing it, you will find that you enjoy every action you do. Rewards will come, but you are not attached to the reward. You can even get more than you would have imagined for yourself without expecting a reward. Expecting a reward puts your vibration on what you do not have yet rather than in the good feeling of doing the task. You are out of clear alignment and working under a handicap.
Don Miguel writes that you were born with the right to be happy. You were born with the right to love, to enjoy and to share your love. You are alive, so take your life and enjoy it. You don’t need to know or prove anything. Just to be, to take a risk and enjoy your life, is all that matters. Say no when you want to say no, and yes when you want to say yes. You have the right to be you.
You don’t need knowledge or great philosophical concepts. You don’t need the acceptance of others. You express your own divinity by being alive and loving yourself and others.
Practice Makes Perfect
Everything you have ever learned, you learned through repetition. If you do your best always, over and over again, you will become a master of transformation. Practice makes the master. By doing your best you become the master. If you break an agreement, begin again tomorrow, and again the next day. It may be difficult at first, but each day will become easier and easier, until one day Don Miguel says that you discover that you are ruling your life with these Four Agreements. And you will be surprised at the way your life has been transformed.
Do not be concerned about the future; keep your attention on today, and stay in the present moment. Just live one day at a time. Today is the beginning of a new way of living.
For this week commit to doing what you need to do to come into clear alignment to feel good. Then do what you are inspired to do.
If there is a goal you wish to accomplish, you might set up a list of no more than three things you will do each day toward accomplishing it. The three tasks need to be appealing to do and above all doable. Then you will be able to add to feeling good by checking them off, as done each day.
