Using the Map of Consciousness to Remarkably Heal Your Body
Sir David R. Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D. is the director of the Institute for Spiritual Research, Inc. He is a widely known authority within the field of consciousness research. He writes and teaches from the unique perspective of an experienced clinician, scientist and teacher. He has been honored worldwide with many titles.
In Doctor Hawkins book, “Power Verses Force”, he shares the Map of Consciousness. The map describes the energy field of many of the emotions, energy fields that we experience. Shown on the Map are general fields of consciousness that have been calibrated as to the power of the field and its direction, as indicated by the arrows. Those below the level of courage at 200 go downward, and those above courage go upward. Those that are in a negative direction do not support life. Those that are in a positive direction support and nurture life. At the top of the Map, there is an alignment with Truth. The energy fields become more powerful as their numerical calibrations increase. He refers frequently to the Map to explain the relationship between body, mind, and spirit, which is so important to comprehend in relation to self-healing.
It is necessary to learn about the energy fields because they are infinitely related to your health as well as all aspects of your life. All are extremely important because the body, mind, and spirit are all actually expressions of consciousness. Therefore, if it is a negative energy field, it is destructive to all aspects of oneself, right down to the biochemical level. All we have to do is look at the Map to see what emotion is involved in order to know what our energy field is. In looking at self-pity, for example, we can see that we are now in a negative energy field that calibrates at 50, which is very weak compared to Love at 500.
The bases of his muscle testing research was done over a 20-year period, involving millions of calibrations for thousands of test subjects of all ages and personality types, and from all walks of life. The study was clinical in method and thus has widespread, pragmatic implications.
Two people are needed for the procedure. One acts as the test subject by holding out one arm laterally, parallel to the ground. The second person then presses down with two fingers on the wrist of the extended arm and says, “Resist.” The subject then resists the downward pressure with all his strength.
Either party may make a statement. While the subject holds it in mind, his arm’s strength is tested by the tester’s downward pressure. If the statement is negative, false, or reflects a calibration below 200 (see the Map of Consciousness), the test subject will “go weak.” If the answer is yes or calibrates over 200, she will “go strong.”
Once a numeric scale is elicited calibrations can be arrived at by stating, “This item” (such as this book, organization, this person’s motive, and so on) is over 100,” then “over 200,” then “over 300,” until a negative response is obtained. The calibration can then be refined: “It is over 220? 225? 230? and so on. Tester and tested can trade places, and the same results will be obtained. Once one is familiar with the technique, it can be used to evaluate companies, movies, individuals, or events in history; it can also be used to diagnose current life problems.
Process – for this month
We suggest experimenting with muscle testing. The responses may be subtle so it does take practice to learn how your body is talking to you.
Time tested as a most important spiritual practice we suggest sitting to quiet your mind fifteen to twenty minutes each day.
Since what we hold in our minds is reflected in our body, becoming aware of thoughts that cause unpleasant feelings – the sign that the voice in your head is not vibrationally in sync with the vibration of your Source – then shifting our thoughts is needed. To help shift your thoughts, particularly if you have a physical issue, Dr. Hawkins suggests repeating the phrase – “I no longer believe in that. I am an infinite being, and I am not subject to that. I am only subject to what I hold in mind.”
