ABC.Dec10Day 10 Law of Attraction Centering Thought

There is much to appreciate in my life.

The appreciation that Source feels for you, never endingly, will wrap you in a warm blanket of worthiness if you will allow it.  ~  Abraham

Belief creates the actual fact.  ~  William James

The Mystery of Light

Both relativity and quantum physics, the two great paradigm shifts of modern physics, started from anomalies in the behavior of light. Both led to radical new understandings of the nature of light. Light occupies a very special place in the cosmos; it is in some ways more fundamental than space, time, or matter.

Relativity and Quantum Theory

The theory of relativity came from the unusual character of the speed of light. According to classical physics, measurements of the speed of light should vary according to the motion of the observer. This happens all the time in everyday life. For example, if you are cycling along a road at 20 m.p.h., and a car traveling at 30 m.p.h. passes you, then, relative to you, the car is traveling at 10 m. p. h. If you were to pedal a little faster until you were also moving at 30 m.p.h., the car’s speed relative to you would be zero.

Light travels a lot faster, but you would expect that the faster you traveled, the slower would be the speed of light relative to you. However, what scientists discovered is that whether traveling toward the light or away from it, the relative speed of light was always the same. Like relativity, quantum theory also points to light as being beyond space and time.

A Common Theme

As in modern physics, ancient texts have light as a recurrent theme. Consciousness itself is often characterized in terms of light. The Tibetan Book of the Great Liberation describes “the self-originated Clear Light, eternally unborn…shining forth within one’s own mind.” St. John referred to “the true light, which lightens every man that cometh into the world.”

Those who have awakened to the truth about reality – whom we often call illumined, or enlightened – frequently describe their experiences in terms of light. The Sufi Abu ‘I-Hosian al-Nuri experienced a light “gleaming in the Unseen…I gazed at it continually, until the time came when I had wholly become that light.”

The tenth-century Christian mystic St. Symeon saw – “a light infinite and incomprehensible…one single light…simple, non-composite, timeless, eternal… the source of light. Trained as a Reiki Master Teacher, I see light emanated from our bodies.

Parallels

There are many parallels with the inner light of wisdom teachings and the light of physics. Physical light has no mass and is not part of the material world. The same is true of consciousness; it is immaterial. Neither exists in time and space. Physical light seems to be fundamental to the universe. The light of consciousness is likewise fundamental; without it there would be no experience. In his book, “From Science to God, The Mystery of Consciousness and the Meaning of Light”, physicist, Peter Russell points to physical reality and the reality of the mind sharing the same common ground – a ground whose essence is light.

Monotheistic religions call this common ground God. Many of their descriptions of God have the attributes and qualities of light.

“God is the light, in which there is no darkness.” Says St. John. And in the Koran, we find, “God is the light of Heaven and of the Earth.”

God is the source of everything; so is light. Light is the foundation of every action in the universe. And every experience we have is a manifestation of the light of consciousness.

Process

To expand your seasonal celebration, we again suggest incorporating symbols and/or a ritual from one or more of the other celebrations of light in the different cultures and traditions that we described last week – or make up new ones of your own to celebrate the love light within.

Also, we again suggest saying the Great Invocation daily.

Adapted from writings of Alice Bailey

The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the Mind of the Divine

Let light stream forth into the minds of all beings.

Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of the Divine

Let love stream forth into the hearts of all beings.

From the center where the Will of the Devine is known

Let purpose guide the wills of all beings –

The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the center which we call the human race

Let the Plan of Love and Light work out

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
